INTRODUCTION
The main objective of the THIRDWAY NGO (GH) is to alleviate the plight of the most deprived in the Ghanaian society by establishing a number of projects in such communities.
The NGO therefore gave birth to the establishment of Klaas Haven School Complex at one of the most deprived areas in the Kasoa Township. It is indeed a great relief to majority of the parents in this community, who cannot afford to send their wards to school due to their poor financial position.
ESTABLISHMENT
The School was established on 10th December 2001 with the initial intake of 25 pupils both boys and girls between the ages of two-twelve (2-12) years.
The commencement of the school was necessitated by the presence of Istra Wout a volunteer from the Netherlands and Dzifa Miriam on that faithful day. Both of them moved from house to house in the community to entice the children for enrolment. The school therefore owes them a debt of gratitude, more especially to Istra Wout.
STAFFING
The school started under the headship of Mrs. Cecilia Damalie, assisted by Istra Wout who played a major role in the caring of the children. Two other staff members were later employed after application and interview to join the staff.
SCHOOL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
As requirement by the Ghana Education Service Regulations, the School Management Committee was formed. The chairman elect is Mr. Wilson Dumenu;
2. Mr. Palas, Secretary/Treasurer
3. Mr. Ali Adams, member
4. Mrs. Cecilia Damalie, an automatic member.
VISIT
Mr. Bas Van Halem, a fiancé of Istra Wout paid a short visit to Ghana and also assisted in the teaching and learning process.
The presence of the two expatriates raised the hopes and aspirations of the children.
INSPECTION
For registration and certification of the school by the District Directorate of Ghana Education Service, a team of Officers led by Mrs. Comfort Korsah, and Assistant Director in charge of newly established schools was invited to the school to acquaint themselves with the school infrastructure and facilities available. After inspection, an Approved Letter of Recommendation signed by the District Director, was sent to the school on 20th February 2002. The school can now boast of Thirty-five (35) pupils, made up of Ten (10) boys and Twenty-five (25) girls
