Mariam B. Lam


Mariam B. Lam is Associate Professor of Literature, Media & Cultural Studies and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of California, Riverside. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Spanish, a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literature, and a PhD in Comparative Literature with Certificates of Emphasis in Feminist Studies and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Irvine. She has also taught at UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount University before her appointment at UC Riverside.

Prior to volunteering as staff with Thirdway in 2009, she served as a Board Member and Officer with the Global Village Foundation and continues to serve as a Board Member and Officer of the Riverside Asian American Community Association, along with other numerous community based organizations.

She has travelled extensively throughout Asia, Europe and U.S., and is interested in turning more of her humanitarian attention to Africa and Latin America, while maintaining her investments in the former developmental spaces. Mariam would serve as board member of Thirdway Human Rights Education and development America.
