Overview
Thirdway is a small non-governmental organization based out of the Netherlands dedicated to the promotion of human rights in the nation of Ghana and elsewhere. As with many other human rights groups, we hold the firm belief that all humans are entitled to universal, indivisible rights by virtue of simply being human. However we also believe that civil and political rights cannot be fully realized when social and economic freedoms are not established. A mother of a large family may have the right to vote and participate in government, but that right becomes obsolete if she does not have the means to put food on the table..
Attention to indivisible human rights in Ghana and elsewhere is greatly lacking. To tackle these difficult issues, Thirdway develops projects in various fields. These are our main objectives:
- Raising the quality of education for Ghanaian children by improving human resources in deprived schools and undertaking computer projects.
- Setting up a multipurpose research and training center for human rights education and entrepreneurship that empowers Ghanaian communities.
- Promote and develop micro-credit/finance projects aimed at poverty alleviation, especially among women.

In addition to these major goals, ThirdWay is also focused on:
- Assisting in humanitarian relief efforts and promotion of tourism as a means of intercultural understanding.
- Promotion and training in good governance, accountability, anti-corruption, capacity-building for organizations in need.
- Prevention, mediation and resolution of conflicts.
- Promotion of environmental cleanliness and providing sanitation facilities.
- Research on the Troxovi institution and Trokosi’s (The wives of the gods).
- Collaboration with local and international NGOs and other donors/partners in Ghana.
Thirdway uses volunteers, interns, donors, and partners from all over the world to reach our goals! Please explore our website and click on the volunteers tab to see how you can get involved.
