Overview
Human rights are universal rights held to belong to individuals by virtue of their being human, encompassing civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights and freedoms, and based on the notion of personal human dignity and worth. Organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch promote human rights and denounce human-rights abuses.
"Since human rights and fundamental freedoms are indivisible, the full realization of civil and political rights without the enjoyment of economic, social and cultural rights is impossible.
The achievement of lasting progress in the implementation of human rights is dependent upon sound and effective national and international policies of economic and social development".
A group of committed individuals in Ghana and elsewhere is working together to improve Human Rights in Ghana.
The question of Human Rights is a multi-facetted one, requiring an approach that addresses each problem area. We believe that Human Rights and poverty alleviation are problems that can be solved.
The solution requires:
- Education
- human rights education
- the funding of the development of small businesses through micro-credit and financing
- promotion of tourism
- effective communication between our partners, both within Ghana and abroad
By achieving these five basic goals, the Thirdway NGO can improve the situation in Ghana.
Help
We are always looking for new partnerships to help us meet our goals.
Support for the communications initiative has been provided by the students of the MA International and European Legal Studies Programme at the University of Utrecht (Class of 2003) and by an anonymous donor.
